Jon Lawton                   Americana singer/songwriter

Jon Lawton is one of the best Folk, Blues, Americana singer/songwriters you’ve never heard of.  He has been writing, recording and performing for decades.  Jon plays an always interesting blend of original and traditional blues, country and folk music. Big Bill Broonzy, Brownie McGhee, John Lee Hooker, Hank Snow, Steve Earle, Pete Seeger, and Merle Haggard are significant influences for him. During his show Jon will rotate from National Steel, 12-string, 6-string guitars and banjo. Jon’s old-style guitar (and banjo!) technique, plaintively conversational vocal style and dynamic ability to move seamlessly through rags, stomps, and his own observational tunes have marked him as a modern songster who makes tradition come alive every time he performs.

About Jon’s live solo show John Hammond said,” I don’t usually watch the opening act, but I was really impressed with Jon’s set. He killed!”

Jon has recently released his 11th CD, The Virginny Sessions vol. 1. He has also recently released a collection of songs online called The Good Old Days. It features some fantastic original tunes. Arrangements vary from solo to duo, and small acoustic bands.
